Millennium Challenge Account – Mongolia signed an Implementing Entity Agreement with Water Services Regulatory Commission of Mongolia (WSRC) to collaborate on the development and approval of the Cost Recovery Plan, a detailed plan to ensure a long-term financial and operational sustainability of water services in Ulaanbaatar.

MCA-Mongolia now invites applications for pre-qualification for the Construction of Groundwater Well-pump House and Conveyance. As per the guidance in the Instructions to Applicants, Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the minimum requirements stated in the Pre-Qualification Document (“PQD”) to pre-qualify. The Qualification Criteria, Works Requirements and Application Forms are included in the PQD.

Publish What You Fund (PWYF) has released its 2020 Aid Transparency Index, ranking the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) as first among U.S. federal agencies and seventh in the world for aid transparency. The Aid Transparency Index is an independent measure of foreign aid transparency among the world’s major development and donor agencies and is released every two years.

Stakeholder consultation workshop on the draft version of Cost Recovery Plan, one of the conditions precedent to Entry into Force of the Mongolia Water Compact, was held among water sector professionals on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 in Novotel Ulaanbaatar Hotel.

U.S Ambassador Michael Klecheski visited a smart water kiosk in the 13th khoroo, Chingeltei District and got acquainted with its operation during his informal tour of ger districts in Ulaanbaatar on July 7, 2020. The kiosk is one of the 142 smart kiosks in Ulaanbaatar which have been converted from manually operated pipe-fed kiosks to “smart” ones since 2015.

The current and future water supply situation in Ulaanbaatar city entirely depends on Tuul River. Keeping the Tuul River ecosystem healthy and intact is the basis for providing the population of Ulaanbaatar with water. Currently, no comprehensive studies have been conducted to characterize or quantify sludge that originates from the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant (CWWTP) in the river sediments for many years.
