Ulaanbaatar city, September 1, 2020 - Minister of Construction and Urban Development B.Munkhbaatar met with MCA-Mongolia CEO E.Sodontogos, Deputy CEO S.Zorigt and line directors on September 1, 2020.

Representatives of MCA-Mongolia, an accountable entity implementing the Mongolia Water Compact, signed between the Government of Mongolia and the U.S Millennium Challenge Corporation, briefed updates on the implementation status of the Bulk Water Supply Project, progress of fulfilment of the Governments commitments and obligations under the Compact, as well as some challenges facing or may face to move forward in the Program implementation.

Parties also exchanged views on effective further cooperation, particularly advancing works related to industrial pre-treatment and pollution control, which a part of the Government obligations under the Compact, in the first place, as well as synergizing works of the Compact activities and new Central Wastewater Treatment Plant construction project.

On a related note, the Mongolia Water Compact is funding the construction of a Wastewater Recycling Plant, a part of its three closely-related activities, that will treat 50,000 cubic meters/day of the effluent from new CWWTP and convey the recycled water to Combined Heating and Power plants number three and four (CHP-3 and CHP-4) for technical use. This will be the largest example of wastewater recycling in Mongolia and further promote the conservation of potable water.
