Ulaanbaatar Bulk Water Supply Project
The Ulaanbaatar Bulk Water Supply Project, under the Mongolia Water Compact, is designed to address the potential problem of limited long-term sustainable supplies of water for Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. The Project comprises three closely related investment activities and is must be implemented within a five-year period, between March 31, 2021 and March 31, 2026, in accordance with the MCC rules.

Environmental and Social Performance

MCA-Mongolia Environmental and Social Performance (ESP) mission activities and commitments are to uphold a high standard of environmental and social performances aligned with Mongolian laws and regulations as well as international good practices as codified in the MCC Guidelines and IFC Performance Standards.

Social Analysis and Implementation

MCA Mongolia conducted a social analysis related to the compact and implemented a plan for integrating social impact objectives, metrics, and targets of Compact activities. The plan highlights social constraints and risks across the sector that need to be mitigated, and it identifies opportunities for enhancing benefits for program stakeholders.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Economic Analysis

The purpose of the M&E system is monitoring continually all levels of the project activities and assisting MCA-Mongolia Management to adjust the project strategy to maximize the MCC and MCA-Mongolia’s impact and implementing the impact evaluation of the program outcomes independently.
