
[Ulaanbaatar, March 09, 2022] – A regular meeting of the Board of Directors of MCA-Mongolia was held on March 09, 2022, in Tuul Conference room at MCA-Mongolia. The meeting was chaired by B. Munkhjin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, and attended by Board members, Amanda Jennings, Acting Resident Country Director, MCC Resident Country Mission, Ashley Shoemaker, Director, Program Financial Services, MCC, Gregory May, Deputy Chief of Mission at U.S. Embassy, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and MCA-Mongolia senior management, relevant directors, as well as other officials.


During the meeting, amendments into the MCA-Mongolia HR Manual were discussed and approved, and a Brief Overview on Internal Audit on the Implementation of the Resettlement Action Plan and Grievance Redress Mechanism as well as Activity Report of the Internal Audit Team for 2021 were presented respectively.
The Board also approved the Procurement Plan for April 1, 2022 through March 31, 2023 and Quarterly Disbursement Request Package for Quarter 2, 2022.
MCA-Mongolia Board of Directors, chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, is comprised of nine voting members, including state secretaries of relevant line ministries and representatives from the private sector and civil society, as well as MCA-Mongolia Chief Executive Officer and MCC Resident Country Director as non-voting members.
Regular meeting of the Board of Directors is held on a quarterly basis. As of March 2022, the Board has met a total of 16 times, both on a regular and irregular basis, and discussed and resolved issues concerning Program implementation and MCA Mongolia operations.

The Government of Mongolia and the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation signed the $350 million Mongolia Water Compact on July 27, 2018. The Compact is funding major infrastructure projects, including the construction of new wellfields and two large plants - an Advanced Water Purification Plant and Wastewater Recycling Plant which will be the first of their kind in Mongolia. In addition, the Compact will invest in policy measures to create a financially and environmentally sustainable future for the water sector of Ulaanbaatar. By 2026, the water system in Ulaanbaatar will have been expanded to deliver 80% more drinking water, allowing for the city’s future expansion.
