[Ulaanbaatar, September 08, 2022] – A regular meeting of the Board of Directors of MCA-Mongolia was held on September 08, 2022, in Tuul Conference room at MCA-Mongolia. The meeting was chaired by B. Munkhjin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, and attended by Board members, including MCC Resident Country Director Tina Yu and MCA-Mongolia Interim Chief Executive Officer D.Enkhjargal as well as MCA-Mongolia Chief Operating Officer D.Khulan, Acting Deputy CEO T.Enkhtungalag and other relevant directors of MCA-Mongolia.
At the beginning of the meeting, MCA-Mongolia introduced the newly appointed General Counsel M.Dorjkhand to the Board. The General Counsel serves as the principal legal officer for the management team and the Board of Directors of MCA-Mongolia, developing and providing policy advice and opinions on a wide range of legal matters, and also works as the corporate secretary to the Board of MCA-Mongolia.
During this meeting, the Board discussed the MCC’s proposal on Modification to the PIA–Government Contribution and Tax Schedule and assigned the relevant tasks to respective officials. 
MCA-Mongolia Interim Chief Executive Officer D.Enkhjargal and Acting Deputy CEO T.Enkhtungalag presented the progress report of the MCA-Mongolia’s Work Plan for Q3 of 2022 and Program (Downstream Wells Activity, Wastewater Recycling Activity, and Water Sector Sustainability Activity) implementation updates respectively.
The Board also approved the Procurement Plan for October 1, 2022, through September 30, 2023, the Quarterly Disbursement Request Package for Quarter 4, 2022, and the Amendments to the Internal Audit Plan for 2022.
MCA-Mongolia Board of Directors, chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, is comprised of nine voting members, including state secretaries of relevant line ministries and representatives from the private sector and civil society, as well as MCA-Mongolia Chief Executive Officer and MCC Resident Country Director as non-voting members.
Regular meeting of the Board of Directors is held on a quarterly basis. As of September 2022, the Board has met 18 times, both on a regular and irregular basis, and discussed and resolved issues concerning Program implementation and MCA Mongolia operations.

This $462 million project is a partnership between the American and Mongolian people made possible by $350m in MCC grant funding and the $111.76m contribution from the Government of Mongolia which demonstrates their commitment to working together to achieve economic growth and poverty reduction in Ulaanbaatar. The Mongolia Water Compact is funding major infrastructure projects, including the construction of new wellfields and two large plants - an Advanced Water Purification Plant and Wastewater Recycling Plant which will be the first of their kind in Mongolia. In addition, the Compact will invest in policy measures to create a financially and environmentally sustainable future for the water sector of Ulaanbaatar. By 2026, the water system in Ulaanbaatar will have been expanded to deliver 80% more drinking water, allowing for the city’s future expansion.
