A REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE MCA-MONGOLIA IS HELD

[Ulaanbaatar, June 09, 2022] – A regular meeting of the Board of Directors of MCA-Mongolia was held on June 09, 2022, in Tuul Conference room at MCA-Mongolia. The meeting was chaired by B. Munkhjin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, and attended by Board members, including Tina Yu, Resident Country Director, MCC Resident Country Mission and G.Uranchimeg, Acting Chief Executive Officer, MCA-Mongolia as well as D.Khulan, Chief Operating Officer and other relevant directors of MCA-Mongolia.

During the meeting, the Amendments into the FAP version 3.0 and the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program for the Internal Audit Team of MCA-Mongolia were discussed and approved, and the Government Contribution Proposal for 2023 State Budget, a brief overview on Internal Audit of the Asset and Vehicle Fleet Management and Commencement and Planning of External Audit for the period from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 and other issues were presented respectively. 

The Board also approved the Procurement Plan for July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023 and Quarterly Disbursement Request Package for Quarter 3, 2022.

MCA-Mongolia Board of Directors, chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, is comprised of nine voting members, including state secretaries of relevant line ministries and representatives from the private sector and civil society, as well as MCA-Mongolia Chief Executive Officer and MCC Resident Country Director as non-voting members.

Regular meeting of the Board of Directors is held on a quarterly basis. As of March 2022, the Board has met a total of 17 times, both on a regular and irregular basis, and discussed and resolved issues concerning Program implementation and MCA Mongolia operations.

This $462 million project is a partnership between the American and Mongolian people made possible by $350m in MCC grant funding and the $111.78m contribution from the Government of Mongolia which demonstrates their commitment to working together to achieve economic growth and poverty reduction in Ulaanbaatar. The Mongolia Water Compact is funding major infrastructure projects, including the construction of new wellfields and two large plants - an Advanced Water Purification Plant and Wastewater Recycling Plant which will be the first of their kind in Mongolia. In addition, the Compact will invest in policy measures to create a financially and environmentally sustainable future for the water sector of Ulaanbaatar. By 2026, the water system in Ulaanbaatar will have been expanded to deliver 80% more drinking water, allowing for the city’s future expansion.
