System Engineer
The System Engineer, under the Information Technology Manager, is responsible for the delivery and administration of IT-related services to ensure smooth, security, and uninterrupted operation of MCA-Mongolia, including software and network server infrastructure, server room equipment, and regular maintenance and oversight.
Duties and responsibilities
- To manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure for the organization in accordance with MCA- Mongolian rules and regulations.
- To oversee and improve infrastructure capacity and performance, and provides second and third-level support to solve infrastructure issues.
- Responsible for maintenance of system equipment, regular technical inspections in accordance with the schedule to prevent damage, and replacing the defective or obsolete components as needed.
- Responsible for the operation of the information storage, backup, and recovery management system and the integrated infrastructure monitoring system.
- To participate in the development of terms of reference, technical specifications, and associated cost estimates in technical evaluation panels and bid review panels, as may be necessary for the procurement of IT consultants and contractors.
- To provide technical support and solutions based on customer needs.
- To manage and be responsible for the safe and secure operation of the server room and equipment with an IT specialist.
- To perform additional tasks and responsibilities assigned by the Manager, IT, and Director, Administration of MCA-Mongolia.
Evaluation criteria
Education:
- Bachelor or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Hardware Engineering or related field.
- MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) or other industry certifications considered an advantage.
Work experience:
- Five (5) or more years of experience in system engineering and system administration.
- Deep knowledge and experience in server room environment, server, storage and network equipment.
- Experience with data backup, recovery and archiving.
- Experience in Active Directory, Windows File Services, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, WSUS and Microsoft Identity
- Knowledge of database management software such as MySQL, Oracle RDBMS, and Microsoft SQL.
- Working knowledge of VMware and Hyper-V virtualization.
- General knowledge of Cisco switch, VLAN/WAN/VPN/Firewall.
Communication and languages:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English and Mongolian, both verbally and in writing. English language proficiency at ILR Level 3 or above is preferred.
